Food Waste Friday: a little bit of chicken

Every week, Kristen at The Frugal Girl blogs about her food waste for the week. We used to throw away an awful lot of food, so I decided to take up the challenge! Hopefully blogging about my waste will motivate me to reduce it.

It was a very good week, I think!

All I lost this week was about 1/4 cup of leftover BBQ chicken that was supposed to be for a sandwich.

We made it through all our fruit and lost no veggies this week! Oh, happy day!

Oh, and it’s also raining today. So it’s a DOUBLY good day! I can’t even put into words how good the desert smells after a good rain! It’s also blissfully cool outside — only 80 degrees! I’m taking advantage of the cool weather and doing next week’s baking today: sandwich bread, oatmeal cinnamon bread, and possibly some muffins.

On a side note, posting will be a little sparse for the next week and a half. We’re packing up to go to Los Angeles next weekend. Jim’s best friend is getting married and we’re turning it into a mini-vacation with the in-laws. There may be a trip to the beach, Disney, or Legoland in our future…

Last, but not least, one of Jim’s friends and teammates from college football died this morning in a car accident. Prayers for Clay and his family are appreciated.
